ABSTUDY approved marine courses

ABSTUDY

ABSTUDY is a group of payments for Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students available through Services Australia via Centrelink.

Am I eligible for ABSTUDY payments?

To be eligible for ABSTUDY payments you must be:

  • An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander Australian
  • In an approved course, Australian apprenticeship or traineeship
  • Not receiving another payment to study or train

What does it cover?

ABSTUDY payments are designed to assist students with study costs and housing if they need to travel for their studies. The following costs may be covered:

  • Study
  • Housing
  • Living expenses
  • Travel to your place of study if you need to study away from home.

Note that you will be enrolled under the old course codes (MAR20318, MAR20418, MAR30818, MAR30918) until the priority skills list is updated.

Please note that these fees are the course fees only and do not cover additional fees such as those relating to the final assessment, certificate of competency, AMSA submission or marine radio application fee.
