Certificate Course Flexible Delivery

Participants may complete a course within the month, or choose "flexible delivery" and attend days/weeks over time. However, depending on the course chosen, some days must be concurrent to ensure the participant meets the learning outcomes. For example, Basic Engineering days 1 through 4 must be completed consecutively.

Certificate Course and Competency Standards Return Policy

If you do not reach the required competency standard within the course duration (including any post-course assignments and activities), the Sea School return policy allows you to return on scheduled course days to complete training, new assessments or re-assessment at no cost over a 12 month period (subject to course numbers).

If a student does not reach a competent level in any unit of competency, re-assessment will be undertaken using different assessment tools.

If the participant requires additional time to complete one or more assessments during programmed assessments the Trainer will provide additional time, for example during lunch, after day's end, after the course, or at a time agreed upon by both parties.

If a participant is again unsuccessful the Trainer feedback discussion will include a determination on one, or more, of the following:

  • a list of skill developments and additional study regime required before re-assessment
  • establish the type of re-assessment such as assignment, oral assessment, practical competence and finding out information from the workplace and internet
  • the length of time required prior to re-attending the course or specific training days for training or assessments. The standard time is 3 months and may vary depending on the aptitude and experience of the student
  • travel considerations if the participant is in a remote region or far off location

Skills Recognition for Commercial Courses

If you have prior learning or work experience and are enrolling in a SEA SCHOOL course, we recommend you apply for course credits where eligible. For example: Marine Radio, First Aid and units already completed at another RTO within the Maritime Training Package.

To do so, contact us to discuss your application or to arrange an appointment with a training officer.

For more information about Skills Recognition, see our Skills Recognition section.

Refunds and Cancellations Policy

If you have not yet paid for your course and wish to cancel, please assist us by contacting the office as soon as possible.

No refunds are available for "sale" or discounted enrolments. Furthermore, we are unable to offer refunds for courses or groups of courses which have already commenced (whether delivered over the short term or as flexible delivery over time).

In those cases, you may instead elect to transfer your booking to another date, course or person within a 12 month period, subject to availability. Refer to Transfers below for more information on transfers made at late notice.

If you wish to cancel your booked and paid for course (excluding "sale" or discounted courses) and receive a full refund, you must:

  1. Give at least seven (7) working days notice in the case of Boat Licence courses, or
  2. Give at least ten (10) working days notice in the case of Commercial courses.

If you wish to do so, please contact the office as quickly as possible so that your place may be given to another. Then confirm in writing by email to info@seaschool.com.au.

Unfortunately, we are unable to provide refunds for those bookings which are not cancelled within the minimum number of working days. However, transfers are allowed.

Transfers Policy

If you wish to transfer your booking due to work, emergency, other difficulties, we can arrange to have your booking changed to another date, course or person within a 12 month period, subject to availability.

In this case, we ask that you:

  1. Give at least seven (7) working days notice in the case of Boat Licence courses, or
  2. Give at least ten (10) working days notice in the case of Commercial courses.

If you are unable to give the required amount of notice, a request for a Late Notice Transfer may still be made. Late Notice Transfers will not be eligible for refunds in case of cancellation at a later date.

In either case, to request your transfer, please contact the office as quickly as possible so that your place may be given to another. Then confirm in writing by email to info@seaschool.com.au.
