It is not a requirement to study before the course. SEA SCHOOL provides a comprehensive face to face, step by step, presentation for all their boat licence courses. Some people want to, here are a number of recommended study questions.

The NSW Maritime Boating provides a Safe Boating Handbook to operate a vessel for recreational purposes on NSW waters and is recommended as a Learners Guide. To learn about Jet-ski operations, we recommend the NSW Martime Personal Watercraft Handbook.

Every year there are many preventable accidents and incidents which occur on our waterways. Many incidents occur simply because of a lack of understanding of basic marine navigation techniques. This navigation training tool is designed to reinforce the boating knowledge that you already have and hopefully prevent future incidents from occurring.

The NSW Maritime Authority requires applicants to complete 3 training steps in order to receive their boat licence:

1. Safe Boating Course
2. Boat & Jet-ski Knowledge Tests
3. Practical Boating
